Burleigh Heads

Paddock Bakery

A neglected, old Queenslander house, which was relocated to the Gold Coast from Redcliffe in the 1970s, had remained dormant for years. Despite being over 70 years old, it was one of the few original homes left and was in dire need of some care and attention.

Paddock Bakery‘s menu is a delightful and imaginative selection of brunch-style dishes, all priced below $21 and presented in recycled cardboard “dish” trays. The menu offers a range of mouthwatering options, such as Apple & Rhubarb Doughnut French Toast, Purple Toast and Rustic Avo (on 5 grain whole meal sourdough with toasted pistachios, lemon, sunflower seed, and pepitas).

The signature Dippy Eggs are a must-try; a deconstructed breakfast dish served in an egg carton with diced Byron Berkshire bacon bits, parsley, and organic labna. Along with the fantastic coffee, which includes the Paradox Blend or Single Origin Roasters, customers can choose from a small selection of loose-leaf teas, Green Tea Latte, Mork Specialty Hot Chocolate, and refreshing cold beverages like House Bottled Ice Coffee, Fresh Press Juices, and Organic Karma soft drinks.

For customers in a rush, there’s a shipping container on the side garden offering takeaway coffee. An adjacent vacant lot serves as a car park, or customers can park on the street. It’s essential to note that Paddock Bakery operates solely as a walk-in venue and does not take reservations.

Little Mali

Little Mali Espresso and Deli is a trendy coffee spot located in Rainbow Bay, which serves a variety of healthy, homemade food and beverages such as takeaway espresso coffee, fresh juices, smoothies, and premium cheeses and deli products. The cafe’s name pays homage to a rock reef located off the coast of Rainbow Bay that is partially covered by sand. For breakfast, the café offers a range of delicious homemade slices, cakes, breakfast wraps, croissants, bowls, coffee, and tea. In addition, fresh salads are available daily for vegans, vegetarians, and meat-eaters looking for a brunch option. Although Little Mali does not have official seating, customers can easily grab their food and drinks and head back towards the beach to find a shady spot on the grass.
